Man Shot Dead Today In The City Of Paterson, The First Murder Of 2025

PATERSON, NJ.- Detectives of the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Paterson Police Department are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding today’s early afternoon shooting that claimed the life of a 25-year-old man, who was found shot dead lying on the ground in the City of Paterson.
According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, today, January 3, 2025, just minutes after 12:30 p.m., members of the Paterson Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Mercer and Franklin Streets in the City of Paterson.
Police Find Man With Fatal Gunshot Wound
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a 25-year-old Paterson, New Jersey man, unresponsive on the ground, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound. The man was transported to Saint Joseph’s University Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased upon arrival.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been reported at this time.
