Man Fatally Gunned Down Friday In Jersey City, New Jersey

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- A 20-year-old Jersey City man became the first casualty of the 2025 New Year to fall prey to the senseless gun violence plaguing Jersey City after he was gunned down last night in the Greenville section of the City.

     According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, on Friday, January 3, 2025, just shortly before 8:30 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Lembeck Avenue and Old Bergen Road in the Greenville section of Jersey City.

Responding Police Officers Find Gunshot Victim

    Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Rahmiere Morris, 20, of Jersey City, New Jersey, suffering from a severe gunshot wound to his chest. Mr. Morris was immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where, despite life-saving measures, Mr. Morris was pronounced deceased a short time later.

     The Cause and Manner of Mr. Morris’ death is pending the findings of the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been reported at this time. Detectives of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of Mr. Morris.
