Man Arrives At Hospital After Being Hit By Gunfire In The City Of  Paterson

PATERSON, NJ.- The 2025 New Year is getting off to a violent start after gunfire erupted for a second time on Friday, leaving a 46-year-old Paterson, New Jersey man hospitalized as residents of the City of Paterson brace for what could become another violent year in the City.

     According to Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes, on Friday, January 3, 2025, just shortly before 8:00 p.m., members of the Paterson Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Main Street and Broadway in downtown Paterson.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found evidence of a shooting crime scene but were unable to locate any victim or victims. While canvassing the area, Police Officers were notified that a 46-year-old Paterson, New Jersey man, had arrived at Saint Joseph’s University Hospital requesting treatment for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

     Based on the initial investigation and after interviewing the man at the medical center, Police Officers determined that the man had been struck by gunfire at the reported location.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been reported as Detectives continue to search for a suspect and a motive for the shooting.
