HARTFORD, CT.- On Friday, January 3, 2025, Ryan Cameron, 22, of Gorton, Connecticut, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Vernon D. Oliver for his conviction on a federal Child Exploitation charge.

According to U.S. Attorney Vanessa Roberts Avery and documents filed with the District Court, in 2023, Cameron was convicted in Connecticut state court of illegally sharing intimate digital images of a 15-year-old girl.

Probation Officer Finds Cell Phone With Child Pornography

In April 2024, while Cameron was on state probation, his probation officer made a surprise home visit at Cameron’s residence and discovered that he was in possession of a cellular phone that was in direct violation of his probation.  A subsequent forensic examination of Cameron’s cell phone uncovered that the phone contained video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.

The cellular phone also contained messages between Cameron and others in which Cameron solicited and distributed digital images and video files of child pornography. The phone also contained recordings of Cameron sending sexually explicit messages and videos of himself to underage girls on the social media application Snapchat.

Following entering his plea on Friday to Receipt of Child Pornography, Judge Oliver accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for March 28, 2025, at which time Cameron faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison. Cameron remains in federal custody pending sentencing.
