Man Dies From Injuries Sustained In Friday’s Lacey Township House Fire

LACEY TOWNSHIP, NJ.- On Saturday, a 75-year-old Lacey Township, New Jersey, man tragically succumbed to the injuries he sustained during a fire that occurred late Friday afternoon at his Lacey Township residence.
According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, on Friday, January 3, 2025, just shortly before 6:00 p.m., members of the Lacey Township Police Department and Fire Departments responded to reports of a house fire on Signal Street in the Township.
First Responders Find Homeowner Severely Burned
Upon arrival, Police Officers and Firefighters found a man outside the house, later identified as the homeowner, Edward Teixeira, 75, suffering from severe burns to his body. Mr. Teixeira was immediately transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River for treatment, where, despite life-saving efforts by medical staff, Mr. Teixeira sadly succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased yesterday, January 4, 2025.
Subsequent investigations by Ocean County law enforcement and fire officials revealed that the fire originated at the front exterior entrance on the south side of the house. The cause of the fire remains undetermined, but accidental causes cannot be ruled out.
