Police Charge Two Southeast Men For New Year’s Eve Navy Yard Assault

WASHINGTON, DC.- The D.C. Metropolitan Police have charged a 47-year-old man and a 57-year-old man in connection with an assault that took place on New Year’s Eve in Southeast, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, shortly before 10:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Southeast District responded to a report of an assault on the Unit Block of M Street in Southeast, D.C.
Police Find Victim Who Informed He Was Struck By Bottle
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a victim who advised them that he was approached by two men, who then struck him with a bottle. The victim was transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Service to a nearby hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
While on the scene, Police Officers were able to locate the two suspects and placed them under arrest. The suspects, Delvin Martin, 47, and Kenny Watkins, 57, both of Southeast, D.C., were each charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon. Martin and Watkins were processed on the charges and remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility pending future court proceedings in the District of Columbia Superior Court.
