Thursday Night Northeast D.C. Shooting Claims Another Life In Washington D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC.- A 24-year-old Northeast, D.C. man dies at the hospital after he was fatally gunned down late Thursday night after he was struck multiple times by gunfire on Just Street in Northeast, D.C.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Thursday, January 2, 2025, just shortly before 10:00 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to the 5200 Block of Just Street in Northeast, D.C., following receiving reports of gunfire.

Police Find Gunshot Victim

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Corey Ward, Jr., 24, of Northeast, D.C., unresponsive from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services immediately transported Mr. Ward to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced deceased upon arrival.

     Detectives of the D.C. Metropolitan Homicide Branch are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting and are actively searching for the gunman.

     The Metropolitan Police Department is currently offering a $25,000 reward to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the shooting death of Mt. Ward.
