Wildwood Crest Senior Citizen Charged With Fatally Running Down Pedestrian

WILDWOOD, NJ.- Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland reported that following an investigation, a 76-year-old Wildwood Crest, New Jersey woman was taken into custody and charged in connection with a New Year’s Eve fatal pedestrian hit-and-run collision.

     On Thursday, January 2, 2025, Marylin Glenn, 76, of Wildwood Crest, was formally charged with second-degree Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Accident Resulting in Death; and second-degree Violation of Public Safety Law. 

     Glenn was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Cape May County Justice Facility. Following her first appearance, she was released on pretrial monitoring conditions pending future court proceedings in Cape May County Superior Court.

Investigation Results In Charges Being Filed

     The charges stem from an investigation conducted by the Wildwood Police Department and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office. During the investigation, law enforcement determined that on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, Glenn fatally struck a pedestrian, identified as C.C., while driving her vehicle in the area of West Hand and Hudson Avenues in the City of Wildwood after striking C.C., Glenn then fled the scene of the collision but contacted law enforcement a short time later.

     Prosecutor Sutherland emphasized the importance of public safety and accountability on the roadways. “Leaving the scene of an accident is not only unlawful but also undermines the principles of public safety and responsibility. We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the victim as we continue to pursue justice in this matter.”
