Matawan Man Sentenced For Child Pornography & Invasion Of Privacy

BRICK TOWNSHIP, NJ.- A 59-year-old Matawan, New Jersey, man and convicted sexual predator learned that he would be spending just around the next decade in prison after he was sentenced on Friday for the distribution of child pornography and invasion of privacy.

     On Friday, January 3, 2025, Michael Mattina, 59, of Matawan, New Jersey, appeared in Ocean County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Guy P. Ryan to five years in New Jersey State Prison for his previously entered guilty plea to the charge of Distribution of Child Pornography.

     Additionally, on Friday, Judge Ryan sentenced Mattina to a consecutive four years in New Jersey State Prison for his previously entered guilty plea to the charge of Invasion of Privacy. Judge Ryan also ordered Mattina, upon his release from prison, to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law registration requirements and be subject to parole supervision for life. Mattina pleaded guilty to both charges on July 22, 2024, before Judge Ryan.

According To The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office

     According to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer, an investigation by members of the Brick Township Police Department and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office determined that Mattina secretly recorded six female victims, including a 16-year-old girl, by placing a hidden camera inside a bathroom at a Brick Township, New Jersey residence. Further investigation uncovered that Mattina posted the videos of the women on two adult websites.

     On August 17, 2020, Mattina was formally charged with multiple counts of Invasion of Privacy and Distribution of Obscene Materials. Police additionally charged Mattina with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Manufacturing Child Pornography, and Distribution of Child Pornography. Following being charged, Mattina was released on bail conditions pending Friday’s final sentencing on the charges.
