Tuesday, January 7, 2025, 4:05 P.M. ET. 2 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

BOSTON, MA.- On Monday, January 6, 2025, Jansyel Hernandez, 22, of Lynn, Massachusetts, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Patti B. Saris to a one-count indictment charging Possession of Cocaine, Fentanyl, and Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute.

After entering his guilty plea on Monday, Judge Saris accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for April 17, 2025, at which time Hernandez faces up to 20 years in federal prison, at least three years and up to life of supervised release, and a $1 million fine. Judge Saris, at the time of sentencing, will determine the actual term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Hernandez’s prior criminal history.

Hernandez’s co-defendant, Juan Ramos, was charged by criminal complaint and, in October 2023, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 90 months in federal prison.

According To The Charging Information In The Indictment

According to the charging information unsealed in the indictment, in April 2023, an apartment located in Lynn, Massachusetts, was identified as being fraudulently rented under a fictitious name. It was determined that the listed tenant did not exist, and the apartment was utilized as a hub for illicit drug distribution and packaging. During the course of a narcotics investigation, on May 2, 2023, investigators executed a court-authorized search of the apartment. As investigators and police officers entered, Hernandez and Ramos both fled and jumped off a balcony but were apprehended a short distance away.

At the time of the search, Ramos was on pretrial release for an unrelated domestic violence offense and was wearing a court-ordered GPS bracelet. A subsequent review of the GPS records from the bracelet revealed that Ramos traveled frequently to the apartment.

During the search of the apartment on May 2, 2023, investigators uncovered and seized around 1200 grams of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine. Additionally, investigators found 30 pounds of cutting agents, blenders, scales, and other items of drug paraphernalia associated with cutting and packaging illicit narcotics sales.

In addition to the drugs, investigators located a .38 Taurus revolver in the apartment. During a subsequent search of Ramos’ vehicle that was parked outside the apartment, an additional 200 grams of fentanyl and a .40-caliber Glock handgun were discovered in a hidden compartment under the driver’s seat.
