Jersey City Teen Charged In Friday Night’s Shooting Death

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- On Monday, January 6, 2025, Detectives of the Hudson County Homicide Unit charged a 17-year-old juvenile in connection with the shooting death of a 20-year-old Jersey City man that occurred Friday night in the Greenville section of Jersey City.
According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, the 17-year-old boy was formally charged as a juvenile with first-degree Murder; second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon. The teen was taken into custody on Monday, January 6, 2025, at Garfield Avenue residence in Jersey City, New Jersey.
On Friday, January 3, 2025, shortly before 8:30 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of Lembeck Avenue and Old Bergen Road in the Greenville section of Jersey City.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Rahmiere Morris, 20, of Jersey City, New Jersey, having sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound to his abdomen. Mr. Morris was immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he tragically succumbed to his injury and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
