An Elderly Man Remains Hospitalized After Being Struck By A Car Tuesday

HOWELL, NJ.- Investigators of the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding a motor vehicle crash that occurred on Route 9 in Howell Township, New Jersey, during the predawn hours of Tuesday.
According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago, on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, shortly before 5:00 a.m., members of the Howell Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a pedestrian being struck by a motor vehicle on Route 9 South and Strickland Road in the Township
The initial investigation by responding Police Officers determined that a vehicle being driven by a man was traveling southbound in the right lane of Route 9 when he struck a 77-year-old man from Howell Township, New Jersey.
The elderly man was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he remains and is listed in critical condition.
The driver of the motor vehicle remained on the scene and has been cooperating with law enforcement investigators. The investigation remains active and ongoing. No summonses or charges have been filed at this time.
