Metropolitan Police Charge Maryland Man For Northwest Fatal Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- Following a two-year manhunt, on Wednesday, a 21-year-old Silver Spring, Maryland, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with an early morning shooting death of a man that occurred on December 30, 2022, in Northwest, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Friday, December 30, 2022, members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District responded to reports of gunfire on the 1400 Block of Clifton Street in Northwest, D.C.
Upon arrival, Police Officers, while canvassing the area, found a man, later identified as Jhonathan Guzman Hernandez, 21, Upper Marlboro, Maryland, unresponsive from multiple gunshot wounds in the rear alley of the 2400 Block of 15th Street in Northwest. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded and pronounced Mr. Hernandz deceased at the scene.
During a subsequent investigation by the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch, Detectives were able to identify Alfred Steven Paulino-Del Rosario, 21, of Silver Spring, Maryland, as the shooter and the individual responsible for Mr. Hernandez’s death. Accordingly, a warrant was issued for his arrest.
U.S. Marshals Locate And Apprehend Paulino-Del Rosario
On Wednesday, January 8, 2025, members of the U.S. Marshals Capitol Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Paulino-Del Rosario. After being taken into custody, Paulino-Del Rosario was transported to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch, where he was processed on the charge of second-degree Murder While Armed and remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility, pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.
