South Brunswick Man Charged With Yesterday’s Murder Of A Woman

SOUTH BRUNSWICK, NJ.- On Thursday, an apparent domestic dispute inside a South Brunswick, New Jersey residence tragically escalated, leaving a 38-year-old Freehold, New Jersey, woman dead and a 41-year-old South Brunswick man charged with her murder.
According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at around 3:15 p.m., members of the South Brunswick Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an unresponsive woman inside a Route 27 residence in South Brunswick.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found the lifeless body of Lauren Saldana, 38, of Freehold, inside the home. Ms Saldana was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Detectives Determined Romanovskiy Murdered, Ms. Saldana
The initial investigation by Detective Matthew Hagood of the South Brunswick Police Department and Detective Javier Morillo of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office quickly determined that Roman Romanovskiy, 41, of South Brunswick, New Jersey, was responsible for the acts that led to Ms. Saldana’s death.
During further investigation, Detectives learned that Ms. Saldana and Romanovskiy were known to each other, and there were children present when Ms. Saldana was killed.
Accordingly, on Thursday, January 9, 2025, Romanovskiy was taken into custody without incident and formally charged with one count of first-degree Murder; second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child. Romanoovskiy was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending future court proceedings in Middlesex County Superior Court.
The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion with the court to detain Romanovskiy pending trial.
“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
