Brooklyn Man Charged With December’s Fatal Shooting In Trenton

TRENTON, NJ.- Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey reported that on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, a 33-year-old Brooklyn, New York, man was taken into custody and charged in connection with the December 2024 shooting death of a 32-year-old Trenton, New Jersey man.
Following an investigation by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department, Detectives formally charged Sean Wilkerson, 33, of Brooklyn, with one count of first-degree Murder; first-degree Felony Murder; one count of second-degree Attempted Kidnapping; one count of second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Wilkerson was taken into custody on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, in Brooklyn, New York, by members of the U.S. Marshals New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force. Wilkerson was processed on the charges and remanded into custody. The Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office will file a motion to detain Wilkerson pending trial.
Detectives Identify Wilkerson As The Suspect
The charges stem from an investigation that began on Sunday, December 22, 2024, when, shortly before 6:00 p.m., members of the Trenton Police Department responded to multiple 911 Emergency Calls reporting a man being shot at E&J Deli and Grocery located on the 100 Block of South Cook Avenue in the City of Trenton.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found the man, later identified as Shakeem Lemach Davis, 32, of Trenton, New Jersey, inside the deli suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Davis was immediately transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
During the ensuing investigations, Detectives were able to identify Wilkerson as the shooter and the individual responsible for Mr. Davis’ death.
