Teen Charged With Possessing Over 1,500 Images Of Child Pornography

HACKENSACK, NJ.- On Friday, following an investigation, a 17-year-old Bergen County, New Jersey, was taken into custody and charged with possessing digital images and video files of child pornography.
According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on August 12, 2024, Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit identified a 17-year-old juvenile during an internet child pornography investigation. During the investigation, Detectives obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant on the teen’s electronic device.
Teen Possessed Ove 1,500 Digital Images
During a subsequent forensic examination of the teen’s device, Detectives uncovered that the teen utilized the internet to view, store, and possess 1,751 digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of prepubescent and pubescent children.
Accordingly, on Friday, January 10, 2025, the teen was taken into protective custody at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Paramus, New Jersey, and formally charged with one count of second-degree Possession of Child Pornography.
The teen was processed on the charge and was released to a guardian pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court Family Law Division in Hackensack, New Jersey.
“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: As in adult cases, the charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and a juvenile defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
