Galloway Township Man Pleads Guilty To Narcotics & Theft Charges

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ.- On Friday, January 10, 2025, Abdulahad Welch, 19, of Galloway Township, New Jersey, appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court and pleaded guilty before Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Waldman to one count of third-degree Theft; and two counts of third-degree Possession with Intent to Distribute Controlled Dangerous Substances.
The guilty pleas stem from three separate cases that occurred in Atlantic City, New Jersey, between November 28, 2023, and June 18, 2024. In return for the guilty pleas on Friday, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office will recommend that Welch be sentenced to three years in New Jersey State Prison. Judge Waldman accepted the pleas and scheduled Welch to be sentenced on February 18, 2025.
According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, on November 28, 2023, two victims reported to the Atlantic City Police Officers that several individuals had entered their vehicle without permission and stole items from them. A subsequent investigation resulted in Welch being identified as one of the perpetrators.
On December 28, 2023, while on patrol, Atlantic City Police Officers observed Welch engaged in a hand-to-hand narcotics sale in the area of Tennessee and Atlantic Avenues in the City. Police Officers arrested and charged Welch with narcotics offenses. Later, lab analysis confirmed the substance contained heroin and fentanyl.
On June 18, 2024, Atlantic City Police Officers observed Welch attempting to engage in a hand-to-hand narcotics sale at the Renaissance Plaza in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Welch was taken into custody. During the arrest, Welch was found to be in possession of fentanyl and had U.S. currency in denomination consistent with street-level narcotics sales.
