PARAMUS, NJ.- Following an investigation, a 43-year-old Belleville, New Jersey, woman employed as a branch manager at a Bergen County bank surrendered to Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and was charged in connection with the theft of nearly $70,000 from the bank.

According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, in March 2024, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit was contacted regarding an alleged theft of funds and unauthorized withdrawal of money from a customer’s bank account at a Bergen County, New Jersey, bank.

During a months-long investigation, Detectives determined that Amira T. White, 43, of Belleville, a bank manager, stole $54,648 from cash boxes at the bank and under her control. Additionally, she withdrew around $15,000 from a customer’s bank account and diverted the funds to her cash box balance in order to hide the alleged thefts.

Accordingly, on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, White surrendered to Detectives at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Paramus, New Jersey, and was formally charged with two counts of Theft by Deception. White was processed on the charges and was released on a complaint summons pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
