BOSTON, MA.- On Wednesday, January 8, 2025, Patrick Baxter, 44, of Acton, Massachusetts, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Allison D. Burroughs to 240 months in federal prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release for his conviction on child pornography offenses.

Following a trial in January 2024, a federal jury found Baxter guilty of one count of Possession of Child Pornography; one count of Receiving Child Pornography; and one count of Sexual Exploitation of Children. Baxter was initially taken into federal custody and charged in December 2022.

According To The U.S. Attorney’s Office

According to U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy and evidence presented at trial during an ongoing internet child pornography, investigators determined that Baxter utilized the internet to view and download digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of children.

During the investigation, investigators obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant at Baxter’s Acton, Massachusetts residence. During the search, investigators seized electronic devices that contained 427 video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of prepubescent and pubescent children. Many of the video files depicted children engaged in various sexual acts with adults, and others displayed young children’s genitals. Baxter also produced child pornography in his home when he lived in Melrose, Massachusetts.

“Child pornography is not just an image or video, there is an innocent child behind that lens who has been victimized. Each time someone views these images, the victims are revictimized, causing immeasurable harm,” said United States Attorney Joshua S. Levy. “Nothing can reverse the damage that child exploitation does to its victims, but we hope that our commitment to holding perpetrators accountable will serve as a stark warning to others.”
