Rockaway Woman Charged With Insurance Fraud

PATERSON, NJ.- Today, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes reported that following an investigation by Detectives of the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Insurance Fraud Unit, on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, a 37-year-old Rockaway, New Jersey woman was taken into custody and charged in connection with allegedly filing a false insurance claim.

     Detectives charged Christie Reyes, 37, of Rockaway, New Jersey with one count of third-degree Insurance Fraud. Reyes was processed on the charge and was released on a complaint summons pending future court proceedings in Passaic County Superior Court in Paterson, New Jersey.

     The charge stems from an investigation that began on January 11, 2025, when the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office received a report that Reyes provided false information to obtain insurance coverage for her motor vehicle. During the investigation, Detectives attempted to receive reimbursement for a previous theft of the vehicle after she obtained coverage.
