Chicago Man Pleads Guilty To West Virginia Federal Drug Crime

HUNTINGTON, W.VA.- On Tuesday, a 44-year-old Chicago, Illinois man is facing potentially up to 20 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to distributing methamphetamine last year in Huntington, West Virginia.

     On Tuesday, January 14, 2025, Edmund Omar Johnson, also known as “Chicago” and “Polo,” 44 of Chicago, Illinois, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Robert C. Chambers to Distribution of Methamphetamine.

According To The U.S. Attorney’s Office

     According to U.S. Attorney Will Thompson and charging documents filed with the District Court, on June 30, 2024, Johnson sold around 865 grams of a substance containing methamphetamine to a confidential informant at a Fourth Avenue residence in Huntington, West Virginia, during a controlled buy under the observation of law enforcement investigators.

     During Tuesday’s plea hearing, Johnson admitted to Judge Chambers that he possessed the methamphetamine and sold it to the confidential informant and had prearranged the sale before June 30, 2024.

     Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Chambers accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for May 5, 2025, at which time Johnson faces up to 20 years in federal prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a $1 million fine, or both.
