Teen Girl Killed, Woman Injured In Jersey City Saturday Night Shooting

JERSEY CITY, NJ.- Detectives of the Hudson County Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are continuing their investigation into a Saturday night shooting in the Bergen-Lafayette neighborhood of Jersey City that tragically claimed the life of a teen girl.

     According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, on Saturday, January 18, 2025, shortly after 11:00 p.m., members of the Jersey City Police Department responded to reports of gunfire in the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Union Street in the City.

Police Officers Find Teen Girl And Woman Shot Inside Car

     Upon arrival, Police Officers and First Responders found two female victims suffering from gunshot wounds inside a motor vehicle on Oak Street. The first victim, identified as Cianna Lee, 15, of Jersey City, New Jersey, was immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where, despite life-saving measures by doctors, Ms. Lee tragically succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced shortly before 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

     The second victim, a 37-year-old Jersey City, New Jersey woman and a relative of Ms. Lee, was transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where she is being treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and is listed in stable condition.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made at this time.
