Albany Convicted Child Predator Pleads Guilty To Child Pornography Offense

ALBANY, NY.- A 50-year-old Broadalbin, New York, man, and a registered sex offender is potentially facing spending up to the next two decades in federal prison after pleading guilty on Wednesday in federal court in Albany, New York, to a federal child pornography offense.

     On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, Damian Quillinan, 50, of Broadalbin, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Mae A. D’Agostino to Possession of Child Pornography; and Violation of Federal Supervised Release.

According To Court Documents

     According to U.S. Attorney Carla B. Freedman and documents filed with the District Court, Quillinan, who is a registered sex offender in the State of New York, due to his prior 2017 conviction in the Northern District of New York for multiple counts of receiving and possession of child sexual abuse material.

     In January 2024, shortly after being released from prison on the 2017 conviction, Quillinan manipulated a video file of a prepubescent child he obtained over the internet in order to create a lewd and lascivious image of the child’s genitalia, which he then possessed on a tablet until it was seized by federal law enforcement officers during a search of his home in September 2024.

     During his plea allocution on Wednesday, Quillinan admitted to violating the terms of his supervised release on his prior convictions by committing the new offense and by possessing an electronic device with internet capabilities.

     Following entering his guilty plea, Judge D’Agostino scheduled sentencing for May 22, 2025. At that time, Quillinan faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years and up to 20 years in federal prison and an additional term of two years in federal prison for violating the terms of his supervised release. Quillinan will also face up to five years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine. 

     When sentenced, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offenses and Quillinan’s prior criminal history.
