SYRACUSE, NY.- A 28-year-old Syracuse, New York man will be heading off to over a decade in federal prison after he was sentenced on Friday on multiple counts of child pornography offenses, including digital images depicting infants and toddlers being horrifically sexually abused by adults.
On Friday, January 24, 2025, Lawrence Boone, 28, of Syracuse, New York, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York and was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Brenda K. Sannes to 168 months in federal prison, to be followed by fifteen years of supervised release for his conviction of multiple counts of Receiving, Distributing, and Possessing Child Pornography.
According To U.S. Attorney Freedman
According to U.S. Attorney Carla B. Freedman and charging documents filed with the District Court, during a three-month period, beginning in August 2023 and lasting through November 2023, Boone sent and received digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of prepubescent and pubescent children from other users on a smartphone messaging application.
At the time of his arrest and during the execution of a court-authorized search of Boone’s Syracuse residence, investigators uncovered that Boone possessed over 3,000 digital images and video files of child pornography on four different electronic devices. Investigators discovered files on Boone’s devices included digital images and video files of prepubescent children engaged in sadistic and masochistic conduct and images of infants and toddlers being sexually abused by adults.
In addition to the prison sentence and the term of post-incarceration release, Judge Sannes ordered Boone to forfeit the electronic devices used to commit the crimes and ordered him to register as a sex offender in the national database upon his release from prison.
U.S. Attorney Freedman commended the investigative efforts of Homeland Security Investigations, the New York State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, and the New York State Police Troop D Computer Crime Unit for the successful prosecution and Friday’s prison sentence of Boone.
