Romanian National Apprehended A Charged With Illegal Re-Entry

Monday, January 27, 2025, 9:40 A.M. ET. 1 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

WILLIAMSPORT, PA.- On Thursday, January 23, 2025, a Federal Grand Jury returned an indictment charging Nicolae Strava, 30, a citizen of Romania residing in Pennsylvania, with Illegal Reentry into the United States by a Previously Deported Alien.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus and charging information unsealed in the indictment, it is alleged that Strava was previously removed from the United States on April 23, 2019, through Houston, Texas. It has been further alleged that Strava was found in the United States on September 20, 2024, in Centre County, Pennsylvania, without obtaining permission or authority to reenter the United States.

If convicted, Strava could serve up to two years in federal prison and face immediate deportation proceedings upon his release. At sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Strava’s prior criminal history.

Acting U.S. Attorney Gurganus commended the investigative work of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and Removal Operations for the apprehension and Thursday’s indictment of Strava.

“The rules of the federal court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
