Radford Man Sentenced For Role In Gun Store Heist

ROANOKE, VA.- A 42-year-old Radford, Virginia, man found out he would be spending the next decade of his life in federal prison after he was sentenced on Friday for his role in a Radford pawnshop gun heist.

     On Friday, January 24, 2025, Ronald Perry, 42, of Radford, Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia and was sentenced to 120 months in federal prison for his previously entered guilty plea.

     Perry previously appeared in U.S. District Court in September 2024 and pleaded guilty to Giving a Firearm to a Convicted Felon. Several men, including Perry, Malcolm Stanton, and Michael Hall, were charged with being involved in a burglary at a local pawnshop. Justin Cumbee and Austin Hixon were charged in connection with the burglary for being Prohibited Persons in Possession of Firearms. Cumbee and Hixson were each sentenced to 120 months in prison.  

According To The U.S. Attorney’s Office

     According to Acting U.S. Attorney Zachary T. Lee and documents filed with the District Court, on November 1, 2022, Perry broke into the 1st Pawnshop in Radford, Virginia, and stole around 15 firearms, which he divided between himself, Stanton, and Hall. Law enforcement investigators learned that several of the guns were later illegally sold or traded for illicit narcotics.
