CHARLESTON, W.VA.- A 21-year-old Parkersburg, West Virginia man on probation for a crime committed in Ohio found out on Thursday that posting pictures of himself on a social media platform holding narcotics, firearms, and cash wasn’t very bright after he was sentenced to federal prison for conviction of possessing firearms by a convicted felon.

On Thursday, January 23, 2025, Christian Elliott, 21, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Irene C. Berger to 36 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release for being a Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm, Convicted Felon.

According To The U.S. Attorney’s Office

According to U.S. Attorney Will Thompson and documents filed with the District Court, on April 2, 2024, Elliott, while on a term of probation for a crime committed in Ohio, had his residence searched as a condition of his probation. During the search, Probation Officers found a loaded Glock 9mm handgun, a loaded Diamondback multi-caliber handgun, a loaded Glock 10mm handgun, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, digital scales, and $6,717 in U.S. currency in denominations consistent drug sales in his residence.

During his previously entered guilty plea, Elliott admitted to possessing the firearms during the search of his home.

Federal law prohibits an individual from owning or possessing a firearm or ammunition. Elliott knew he was prohibited from possessing the firearms due to his prior conviction for failure to comply with an order or signal of a Police Officer in Lucas County, Ohio, Court of Common Pleas in September 2022.

Elliott Posts Pictures Holding Guns On Social Media

During the investigation, Police Officers found a social media page that Elliott created with photos of Elliott holding a large amount of marijuana, a large amount of cash, and multiple firearms. During questioning, Elliott admitted to Police Officers he was holding a half-pound of marijuana in the photos and that he possessed the firearms for protection while selling marijuana.
