PITTSBURGH, PA.- On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, a Federal Grand Jury for the Western District of Pennsylvania returned an indictment charging Heyder Molina Prieto, 37, of Colombia, residing illegally in the Western District of Pennsylvania, with one count of Illegal Reentry into the United States by a Previously Deported Alien.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti and charging information unsealed in the indictment, Prieto had been previously removed from the United States on two separate occasions, once on or about June 20, 2020, and again on March 4, 2022.
In November 2024, Prieto was found illegally in the Western District of Pennsylvania after being arrested on November 27, 2024, related to charges filed by the Monroeville Police Department and the Upper St. Clair Police Department.
If convicted on the charge, Prieto faces up to 24 months in federal prison, a fine of up to $250,000 or both. At sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Prieto’s prior criminal history.
Acting U.S. Attorney Rivetti commended the investigative work of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Enforcement and Removal Operations leading to the indictment.
