Following a trial in Hudson County Superior Court before Superior Court Judge Angelo Servidio, the jury found Emmanuel Gonzales guilty of first-degree Murder. Following the jury’s delivery of their finding of guilt, Judge Servidio accepted the verdict and tentatively scheduled sentencing for Friday, April 11, 2025, at which time Gonzalez faces up to life in New Jersey State Prison.

The conviction stems from an incident that began on Thursday, January 14, 2021, when, around 1:30 p.m., members of the West New York Police Department responded to 439 66th Street in West New York after receiving a 911 Emergency Call reporting an unresponsive woman.

Upon arrival, Police Officers were met by Gonzalez, who is the woman’s son. Police Officers were directed to a bedroom where they found the lifeless body of a woman, later identified as Irma Gonzalez, 62, of West New York. Ms. Gonzalez was pronounced deceased at the scene. An autopsy performed by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office determined the Cause of Death to be Blunt Force Trauma and the Manner of Death to be Homicide.
