Leonia Man Charged With Attempted Murder In Tuesday’s Attempted Carjacking

FORT LEE, NJ.- On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, a 25-year-old Leonia, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with stabbing a man during an attempted carjacking that occurred Tuesday morning in Fort Lee, New Jersey.
According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, shortly after 9:15 a.m., members of the Fort Lee Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a stabbing on Duncan Avenue in the Borough of Fort Lee.
Police Officers Find Victim Stabbed Multiple Times
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a 37-year-old male victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. The victim was immediately transported to Hackensack University Medical Center, where he underwent treatment for multiple lacerations to his head and puncture wounds to his shoulder and arms.
The suspect, later identified as Marcus N. Marson, 25, of Leonia, New Jersey, was spotted a short time later and apprehended by Fort Lee Police Officers after a brief foot chase in the backyard of a private residence on Buckingham Road.
During the ensuing investigation by Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Fort Lee Police Department, Detectives quickly determined that the victim, an Uber ride-share driver, was transporting Marson, a passenger who pulled out a knife and began to stab the victim as he demanded to take the victims vehicle.
Accordingly, on Tuesday, Marson was formally charged with first-degree Attempted Murder; first-degree Attempted Carjacking; third-degree Aggravated Assault; third-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and fourth-degree Resisting Arrest.
Marson was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail, pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
