Middletown Teacher Charged In Engaging In Sexual Relationship With Student

MIDDLETOWN, NJ.- On Tuesday, a 35-year-old Middletown High School teacher becomes the second State of New Jersey school teacher to be taken into custody and charged this month for engaging in an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student.
According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago, on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, Justin McGhee, 35, of Ocean Township, New Jersey, who is employed as a teacher and the head girls’ basketball coach at Middletown High School North, was taken into custody and jailed after being formally charged with second-degree Sexual Assault; and second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Investigation Uncovers Sexual Relationship With Student
The arrest and charges stem from an investigation led by Detectives of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Bureau and the Middletown Township Police Department. The investigation determined that McGhee began an inappropriate sexual relationship late last year with a student under the age of eighteen.
After being processed on the charges, McGhee was remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending future court proceedings in Monmouth County Superior Court in Freehold, New Jersey. Middletown High School North officials have placed McGhee on administrative leave.
