Steubenville Sentenced For Methamphetamine Trafficking

WHEELING, W.VA.- On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, David Lamont Hicks, 48, of Steubenville, Ohio, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge John Preston Bailey to 81 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release for his guilty plea to Distribution of Methamphetamine.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Randolph J. Bernard and charging documents filed in the District Court, during an ongoing investigation into methamphetamine trafficking throughout the Northern District of West Virginia. The Ohio Valley Drug Task Force investigators obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant at a Wheeling Island apartment.
Hicks Fled Police On Foot
As investigators were making entry into the apartment, Hicks fled on foot but was quickly apprehended and taken into custody. During the search of the apartment, investigators located and seized quantities of methamphetamine and numerous items of drug paraphernalia.
In handing down the sentence on Wednesday, Judge Bailey noted Hicks’ prior criminal history, including felony convictions for aggravated robbery, drug trafficking, and attempted burglary.
Acting U.S. Attorney Bernard commended the investigative efforts of the Ohio Valley Drug Task Force for the investigation, which led to the successful prosecution of Hicks.
