BOSTON, MA.- On Tuesday, a 32-year-old large-scale counterfeit pill supplier and associate of the notorious Boston area street gang “Asian Boyz” will potentially be facing up to 80 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to a federal drug trafficking conspiracy.

On Tuesday, January 28, 2025, Erickson Dao, also known as “Silent,” 32, of Lowell, Massachusetts, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Nathaniel M. Gorton to Conspiracy to Distribute and to Possess with Intent to Distribute 50 Grams or More of Methamphetamine; and Possession with Intent to Distribute 500 Grams or More of Cocaine.

Following entering his guilty plea on Tuesday, Judge Gorton scheduled sentencing for May 13, 2025. At that time, Dao faces on each count a mandatory minimum of five years and up to 40 years in federal prison, at least four years and up to a lifetime of supervised release, and a $5 million fine. When sentenced, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offenses and Dao’s prior criminal history.

According To The U.S. Attorney’s Office

According to U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley and charging documents filed with the District Court, during an ongoing narcotics investigation, Dao was identified as a major supplier in an extensive drug trafficking network involving an Asian Boyz gang member, Bill Phim.

Between February 2022 and April 2022, Dao delivered counterfeit Adderall pills to Phim on at least five occasions. Phim then sold the pills to an undercover federal agent for more than $11,000. Subsequent chemical testing of the pills confirmed the pills were not Adderall but contained dangerous methamphetamine and caffeine and pressed to resemble Adderall.

During a court-authorized search of Dao’s Lowell, Massachusetts residence, investigators located and seized hundreds of counterfeit Adderall pills and large quantities of cocaine.

Phim was taken into custody and charged in the case and has pleaded not guilty to the charges filed against him and is awaiting trial.
