CHARLESTON, W.VA.- On Wednesday, January 29, 2025, Trenton Alan Cremeans, 24, of Seth, West Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Court Judge John T. Copenhaver to 42 months in federal prison, to be followed by twenty years of supervised release for his previously entered guilty plea to a federal child pornography offense.
Cremeans previously appeared in U.S. Federal Court in Charleston, West Virginia, to one count of Possession of Child Pornography. In addition to the term of imprisonment and supervised release, Judge Copenhaver also ordered Cremeans, upon release from prison, to register as a sex offender in the national database.
According to U.S. Attorney Will Thompson and charging documents filed with the District Court, on January 17, 2024, Cremeans was found to be in possession of child pornography on his cellular phone.
Investigators Find Child Pornography On Cremeans’ Cell Phone
During a court-authorized search of Cremeans’ cell phone, investigators determined when combined with child pornography on his Snapchat messaging accounts, Cremeans possessed a total of around 373 digital images and 31 video files of child pornography. The digital images and video files depicted the sexual exploitation and abuse of prepubescent children. Many of the digital images and video files depicted prepubescent children engaged in sexually explicit conduct with adults, and some depicted sadistic and masochistic abuse.
During his plea allocution, Cremeans admitted that he downloaded the digital images and video files online and utilized his cell phone to search online for child pornography and related information by using specific keywords and search terms, including terms that specifically sought child pornography depicting infants and toddlers.
U.S. Attorney Will Thompson commended the investigative work of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Homeland Security Investigation for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Cremeans.
