BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ.- Last week, a 25-year-old Burlington Township, New Jersey, man and previously convicted sex offender was taken into custody and charged with multiple child pornography offenses and failing to register as a sex offender.

According to Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw, on January 24, 2024, James Hunt, 25, of Burlington Township, was formally charged with second-degree Possession with Intent to Distribute Child Pornography; second-degree Distribution of Child Pornography; third-degree Possession of Child Pornography; third-degree Hindering Apprehension; and third-degree Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.

Hunt was processed on the charges and was released following his initial court appearance in Burlington County Superior Court in Mount Holly, New Jersey.

Hunt Charged Following A Child Pornography Investigation

The charges stem from an investigation that began after the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office received a CyberTip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children regarding Hunt’s online activities. The ensuing investigation uncovered that Hunt was sharing digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and abuse of prepubescent and pubescent children with other users on an online messaging application and chat room.

On January 24, 2025, Hunt was taken into custody during the execution of a court-authorized search warrant at Hunt’s Burlington Township residence. During the search, multiple electronic devices were seized. A subsequent analysis of the devices revealed that Hunt utilized the internet to view, download, possess, and share digital images and video files of child pornography with others on the messaging application.

On Friday, January 31, 2025, the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office reported that the charges and case will be presented to a Burlington County Grand Jury for possible indictment.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
