Garfield Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Child

GARFIELD, NJ.- On Friday, January 31, 2025, a 52-year-old Garfield, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with repeatedly sexually assaulting a child over two months in Garfield, New Jersey.

     According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Friday, January 31, 2025, Hackensack University Medical Center contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile that had occurred late last year.

Investigation Identifies Sanchez

     During the ensuing investigation by the Bergen County Special Victims Unit and the Garfield Police Department, and after interviewing witnesses, including the juvenile victim, Detectives determined that Juan B. Sanchez, 52, of Garfield, New Jersey, sexually assaulted and endangered the child on multiple occasions between November 2024 and January 2025, in Garfield, New Jersey.

     Accordingly, on Friday, Sanchez was taken into custody at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Paramus, New Jersey, and was formally charged with two counts of second-degree Sexual Assault; and second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

     Sanchez was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail, pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
