HUNTINGTON, W.VA.- On Monday, February 3, 2025, Allen Lation Baird, 48, of Detroit, Michigan, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Robert C. Chambers to Possession with Intent to Distribute Fentanyl and Methamphetamine.

Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Chambers accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for June 5, 2025. At that time, Baird faces up to 20 years in federal prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine, or both. At sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the actual term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Baird’s prior criminal history, if any.

According To The U.S. Attorney’s Office

According to U.S. Attorney Will Thompson and charging information filed with the court, on May 3, 2023, members of the Huntington Police Department arrested Baird on an outstanding warrant issued out of Michigan. During the arrest procedure, Police Officers found Baird in possession of around 56 grams of a substance containing fentanyl and 14 grams of methamphetamine.

During questioning, Baird told Police Officers he was taking the illicit narcotics to someone else.

U.S. Attorney Thompson commended the investigative work of the Huntington Police Department and the Huntington Violent Crime and Drug Task Force for the investigation, which led to Baird’s guilty plea on Monday.
