Akron Man Sentenced For Methamphetamine Trafficking

WHEELING, W.VA.- On Monday, February 3, 2025, Stephan G. Ward, 32, of Akron, Ohio, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge John Preston Bailey to 100 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release, after pleading guilty to Distribution of Methamphetamine.

     According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Clayton Reid and charging documents filed in the court, during an investigation into narcotics distribution throughout the Marshall County, Western Virginia, area. Law enforcement investigators were able to identify Ward, also known as “YG,” as a distributor of methamphetamine who transported quantities of methamphetamine from Ohio into the Western District of West Virginia.

     Ward then would deliver the methamphetamine to others for repackaging and distribution throughout the Marshall County area.

     In handing down the sentence on Monday, Judge Bailey noted Ward’s prior convictions for narcotics and firearms offenses.
