Former Monessen Man Sentenced For Sexual Exploiting Teen Girl

PITTSBURGH, PA.- A 36-year-old former Monrssen, Pennsylvania man and convicted child predator will be spending the next two decades in federal prison after being sentenced on Thursday for sexually exploiting a 13-year-old girl.
On Thursday, January 30, 2025, Stefan Sweeny, 36, formerly of Monessen, Pennsylvania, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Christy Criswell Wiegand to 240 months in federal prison, to be followed by ten years of supervised release, on his conviction of Production of Material Depicting the Sexual Exploitation of a Minor.
In handing down the sentence on Thursday, Judge Weigand stated that a 20-year term of imprisonment reflected a balance between the defendant’s acceptance of responsibility and the serious nature of his crimes.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti and charging information filed with the District Court, during an investigation, it was determined that Sweeny produced a video depicting the sexual exploitation of a 13-year-old girl.
