Honduran National Pleads Guilty To Illegal Reentry Into The United States

BECKLEY, W.VA.- Yesterday, a 42-year-old Honduran national and twice-convicted narcotics dealer, who has been deported twice, learned he would be spending the next decade in federal prison after pleading guilty to being unlawful in the United States after he was found in West Virginia in August 2024.

     On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, Nolvin Alfredo-Diaz, also known as Alfredo Diaz, and Nolvin Alfredo Diaz, 42, a citizen of Honduras residing illegally in West Virginia, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia and pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge Omar J. Aboulhosn to Illegal Reentry into the United States by a Previously Deported Alien.

     Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Aboulhosn accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for May 29, 2025. At sentencing, He faces up to 10 years in federal prison and at least three years of supervised release. Upon completion of his sentence, he will face immediate deportation.

According To The U.S. Attorney’s Office

     According to U.S. Attorney Will Thompson and charging information filed with the District Court, on August 21, 2024, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents apprehended Alfredo-Diaz in Lewisburg, West Virginia. During his plea allocution on Wednesday, Alfredo-Diaz admitted that he was a citizen of Honduras and was in the United States illegally and that he had been previously deported from the United States.

     He further admitted that he entered the United States without first obtaining permission or legal authorization to do so.

     During the investigation, fingerprints matched Alfredo-Diaz to two prior removals from the U.S. to Honduras. On December 27, 2006, Alfredo-Diaz was removed from the U.S. to Honduras following his felony conviction for possession of heroin in Denver County, Colorado District Court in September 2006. On September 6, 2007, Alfredo-Diaz was found in Denver, Colorado, and convicted of possession of cocaine in Denver County, Colorado, District Court in December 2007.

     On July 21, 2010, Alfredo-Diaz was found in Canon City, Colorado, and was removed from the United States to Honduras on August 5, 2010.

     “This federal case underscores our office’s commitment to pursuing reentry cases, especially in circumstances where the offender has a criminal history,” said U.S. Attorney Thompson. “Here, Mr. Diaz has two felony convictions for drug offenses and has been removed from the United States on multiple occasions. This will be Mr. Diaz’s third felony conviction. Our office will diligently and aggressively pursue these types of immigration cases.”
