Atlantic City Man Pleads Guilty To Robbing & Assaulting Woman

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ.- On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, Ronald Johnson, 41, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court and pleaded guilty before Superior Court Judge Pamela D’Arcy to one count of second-degree Robbery; and one count of Certain Persons Not to Possess Weapons.

     According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, in return for the guilty plea, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office will recommend that Johnson be sentenced to concurrent five-year sentences on both counts. Johnson must serve the entire five-year sentence before becoming eligible for parole.

Guilty Plea Stems From 2024 Incident

     The guilty plea stems from an incident that unfolded on April 11, 2024, when members of the Atlantic City Police Department responded to a residence after receiving a report of an injured woman. Upon arrival, Police Officers a female victim who informed the Officers that a man she knew, Johnson, had assaulted her, took her cell phone, and threatened he would kill her if she called Police. She provided Police Officers with a description of Johnson, who had fled the area. 

     The woman was transported to an area hospital for treatment of the injuries she sustained by Johnson.

     Later that day, Police Officers located Johnson in Atlantic City. Police Officers advised Johnson he was being placed under arrest. During his arrest, Police Officers found an unregistered handgun in his waistband. 

     Following entering his guilty plea on Wednesday, Judge D’Arcy accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for April 30, 2025.
