PITTSBURGH, PA.- On Wednesday, February 5, 2025, Charles Woods, 67, of Akron, Ohio, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Christy Criswell Wiegand to one count of Conspiracy to Distribute 500 grams or More of Methamphetamine.
Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Wiegand accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for June 12, 2025. At that time, Woods faces up to 40 years in federal prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a $5 million fine. At sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Woods’ prior criminal history.
According To The U.S. Attorney’s Office
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti and charging information filed with the District Court, during Wednesday’s hearing, Judge Wiegand was advised that Woods was identified by law enforcement investigators as a major supplier of methamphetamine for a drug trafficking organization between Akron, Ohio, and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The methamphetamine was then repackaged and redistributed throughout the City of Pittsburgh and surrounding communities.
During the investigation, law enforcement investigators obtained and executed a court-authorized search warrant at Woods’ Akron, Ohio, residence. During the search, investigators located and seized around 294 grams of methamphetamine.
During Wednesday’s plea allocution, Woods admitted to the court that he conspired to distribute and distributed between 500 grams and 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine over five months.
