Plainfield Man Found Guilty For Fatally Shooting His Pregnant Ex-Girlfriend

EDISON, NJ.- On Thursday, February 6, 2025, following a two-week trial in Middlesex County Superior Court, a jury found a 45-year-old Plainfield, New Jersey, guilty in connection with the September 4, 2021, shooting death of his pregnant ex-girlfriend outside her Edison, New Jersey home.

     According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, Shakir Tyler, 45, of Plainfield, was convicted of first-degree Murder for fatally shooting Tayeesha Webb, 35, of Edison. Tyler was also found guilty of second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose.

Judge Schedules Tyler To Be Sentenced In May

     Following the jury returning their findings, Superior Court Judge Thomas Abode accepted the jury’s verdict and scheduled sentencing for May 1, 2025. At that time, Tyler faces a mandatory minimum of 30 years and up to life in New Jersey State Prison.

     During the two-week trial, Middlesex County Assistant Prosecutors Lynne Seborowski and Emily Millner presented evidence and testimony showing that Tyler confronted Ms. Webb outside her home, which led to Tyler fatally shooting Ms. Webb on September 4, 2021, in Edison, New Jersey.
