JOHNSTOWN, PA.- A 57-year-old Johnstown, Pennsylvania man, will be facing up to 30 years in federal prison after pleading guilty on Thursday to crack cocaine trafficking and violating the terms of his supervised release.
On Thursday, February 6, 2025, Daniel Culmer, 57, of Johnstown, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and pleaded guilty before U.S. District Court Judge Marilyn J. Horan to count one of a superseding indictment charging Conspiracy to Distribute and Possession with Intent to Distribute Crack Cocaine, and to violating the terms of his supervised release for a prior felony narcotics conviction.
Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Horan accepted the plea and scheduled sentencing for May 29, 2025. At that time, Culmer faces up to 30 years in federal prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a $2 million fine, or both. At sentencing, a U.S. District Court Judge will determine the term of imprisonment based on the seriousness of the offense and Culmer’s prior criminal history.
According To The U.S. Attorney’s Office
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti and documents filed with the District Court, beginning in and around April 2021 and lasting through July 2021, within the Western District of Pennsylvania, specifically Johnstown, Culmer conspired with others to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute a quantity of a substance containing cocaine base, commonly known as “crack cocaine.”
During the investigation, Culmer was intercepted on a court-authorized federal wiretap, obtaining quantities of the illicit narcotic that he distributed to others throughout the Western District of Pennsylvania.
At the time of the instant offense, Culmer was on supervised release for a prior federal felony conviction in 2018 in the Western District of Pennsylvania for distributing heroin.
