CONCORD, NH.- On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, Joseph Crawford, 33, of Northfield, New Hampshire, appeared in the U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Landya McCafferty to 72 months in federal prison to be followed by three years of supervised release for his previously entered guilty plea on federal narcotics offenses.
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Jay McCormack, on October 30, 2024, Crawford appeared in federal court in Concord, New Hampshire, and pleaded guilty to two counts of Attempted Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.
According To Court Documents
According to charging documents filed with the District Court, on July 5, 2023, and again on July 19, 2023, the United States Postal Inspection Service intercepted two suspicious packages addressed to Crawford at a Northfield, New Hampshire, that were sent from California through the United States Postal Service. A subsequent court-authorized search of the packages uncovered that each package contained over one pound of methamphetamine.
Investigators replaced the methamphetamine with a facsimile substance and conducted a controlled delivery at the address. Once Crawford accepted the packages, he was taken into custody and charged.
At the time Crawford committed these offenses, he was on parole for two prior New Hampshire State felony convictions.
“Joseph Crawford used the United States Postal Service in an attempt to smuggle dangerous drugs across state lines into the Granite State,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Jay McCormack. “Individuals using the mail as an avenue to traffic illegal narcotics to New Hampshire will be prosecuted and significantly punished.”
