One Dead, Another Hospitalized In Southeast D.C. Double Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is searching for the gunman who opened fire Tuesday afternoon, leaving a 25-year-old Maryland man dead and another hospitalized at a Southeast, D.C. apartment building.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, shortly after 2:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District responded to reports of gunfire at an apartment building located on the 2000 Block 19th Place in Southeast, D.C.
Police Find Two Men Shot
Upon arrival, Police Officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both men were immediately transported by DC Fire and Emergency Services to a nearby hospital, where one of the men, identified as Aaron Thomas, Jr., 25, of Owings Mills, Maryland, succumbed to his injuries and was subsequently pronounced deceased. The second man remains hospitalized. His condition is unknown at this time.
The investigation remains active and ongoing as Detectives continue the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
