Parsippany-Troy Hills Man Sentenced For Possession Of Child Pornography

BUTLER, NJ.- On Thursday, February 13, 2025, Scott Morley, 49, of Parsippany-Troy Hills, New Jersey, appeared in Morris County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Stephen J. Taylor to 45 days in the Morris County Jail as a condition of two years of probation after previously pleading guilty to third-degree Possession of Child Pornography.
Morley, a resident of Butler, New Jersey, at the time the offense was committed, appeared in Morris County Superior Court on July 1, 2024, and pleaded guilty to the charge. In handing down the sentence of Thursday, Judge Taylor ordered Morley to have no unsupervised contact with children under the age of eighteen and be subject to internet monitoring.
According To The Prosecutor’s Office
According to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, the guilty plea and sentence stem from an investigation that began when members of the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office Crimes Against Children Task Force received an anonymous tip that Morley may be in possession of digital images and video files depicting the sexual exploitation and sexual abuse of children.
During the investigation, Detectives obtained an executed search warrant at Morley’s Butler home. During the search, a forensic examination of Morley’s electronic devices uncovered child pornography on his computer. Following the discovery of the child pornography, Morley was taken into custody and charged.
