Township Of Wayne Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation Underway

WAYNE, NJ.- Today, the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office Shooting Response Team is currently investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred Friday night at a residence located on White Bridge Court in the Township of Wayne, New Jersey.

     According to the initial investigation, on Friday, February 14, 2025, shortly before 10:00 p.m., members of the Wayne Police Department responded to a call requesting a welfare check at a Township of Wayne home. Upon arrival, Police Officers encountered an individual armed with two swords.

     During the encounter, a Wayne Police Officer fired his service-issued firearm, striking the individual. The individual was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, where they remain listed in critical but stable condition.

     Pursuant to Attorney General Directive 2019-4, the Attorney General Office of Public Integrity and Accountability has been notified. The investigation into this matter, including the use of force by police, remains active and ongoing.
