PITTSBURGH, PA.- On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, a Federal Grand Jury for the Western District of Pennsylvania returned a one-count indictment charging Terrance Chatman, 33, of Braddock, Pennsylvania, with being a Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition, Convicted Felon.

According to Acting U.S. Attorney Troy Rivetti and charging information unsealed in the indictment, it is alleged that around December 11, 2024, Chatman within the City of Pittsburgh possessed a firearm and ammunition after having been convicted of four prior felonies, including murder, robbery, criminal conspiracy, and firearms charges.

Federal law prohibits a person convicted of a felony from owning or possessing a firearm or ammunition.

If convicted at trial, Chatman faces up to 15 years in federal prison, at least three years of supervised release, and a $250,000 fine, or both. A U.S. District Court judge will determine the actual term of imprisonment at sentencing based on the seriousness of the offense and the defendant’s prior criminal history.

Acting U.S. Attorney Rivetti commended the investigative efforts of the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives in securing the indictment against Chatman.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
