D.C. Metropolitan Police Have Charged Man With January’s Fatal Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- On Friday, a 19-year-old Northeast, D.C. man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old man that occurred on January 25, 2025, in Northeast, D.C.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at around 1:15 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting an unresponsive man on the 3800 Block of Jay Street in Northeast, D.C.
Police Find Man Shot Dead
Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, later identified as Antoine Pratt, 21, of Northeast, D.C., unresponsive from multiple gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services pronounced Mr. Pratt deceased at the scene.
During the ensuing investigation, Detectives were able to identify Rodney Whiting, 19, of Northeast, D.C., as the shooter and the individual responsible for the shooting death of Mr. Pratt.
Accordingly, on Friday, February 14, 2025, Detectives located and apprehended Whiting and formally charged him with one count of first-degree Murder While Armed. Whiting was processed on the charge and remanded to the D.C. Central Detention Facility, pending future court proceedings in the District of Columbia Superior Court.
